KATHLEEN NUNGARRAYI  - POSSUM DREAMING

Kathleen is from Yuendumu Northern Territory. There she began painting in 1990. She comes from an artistic family including very important painters such as Clifford Possum and Shorty Jangala Robertson.

A talented artist, themes of Kathleen’s paintings include Women’s Ceremony, Kangaroo Dreaming and Possum Dreaming.

Kathleen uses a broadly applied dotting technique with earthy bright colours.

This painting represents the dreamtime story of the Possum, the journey path created by the possums tail, as it travelled from waterhole to waterhole.

The U shaped symbol represents the Japaljarri man with nulla nulla (throwing stick) and boomerang
