ESTHER BRUNO NANGALA - MARRAPINTI
Esther Bruno Nangala is a recognised artist from the Pintupi language group. She is the granddaughter of Naata Nungarrayi who is a high profile Pintupi Artist. Esther was taught how to paint by Naata who has been painting since 1972.
Esther paints Dreamings associated with woman’s business, the rockhole site at Marrapinti and her grandmother’s country. She uses the same colours as her grandmother-deep oranges, reds and yellow.
She enjoys painting and takes great pride in the spectacular paintings that are sought after by galleries in Australia and abroad.
This painting depicts both the rockhole site at Marrapinti and womens business associated with women's concerns and women's law. She paints traditional designs depicting sacred women's sites and women performing sacred women's ceremonies in the Kintore area as well as the designs that they paint on their bodies when performing ceremonies.
