LILY KELLY NAPANGARDI - SANDHILLS

Lily Kelly Napangardi was born in c1948 at Haasts Bluff region, North West of Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

She is a respected senior law woman of the Mt Liebig community passing on knowledge of traditional songs and dancing to the younger generation.

Lily started painting in the early 1980s, winning the Northern Territory Art Award for Excellence in Aboriginal Painting in 1986.

Lilly's style depicts tali (sandhills). Her paintings are made up of fine dots and dashes, their muted tones building up a mysterious hidden topography of her land. These stories have been passed on to her by her father.

Lily is a highly collectable artist with a strong following. She is represented in major national and international collections as well as corporate and private collections around the world.
