MAUREEN BAKER NAPURRULA

Maureen is a Ngaanyatjarra woman. She was born in Warakurna, WA. Maureens fathers' country is Kulkurda near Tjukurla in WA. Her mother's is Kiwirrkurra, in the Gibson Desert, also in WA.

 

MINMA KUTJARA (TWO WOMEN)

Minyma Kutjara (Two women) is one of the most important women’s creation stories of the Western and Southern deserts and a special story for Irrunytju. Maureen paints the story of two women travelling (Minma Kutjara) across her country, in particular Maureen depicts the sand hills, the sites where the women camped, and where they moved from rock hole to rock hole.  As they camped they ate various bush tucker to sustain them on their long journey.
