Debra  Nangala, born 11-10-69 at Papunya camp & is the grand daughter of the late Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi. Debra's stories refer to her country of Lake MacDonald. Debra has been painting since 1987 and was married to the nephew of Turkey Tolson and son of the great female artist Mitjili.

This traditional painting depicts women’s initiation ceremony where senior women elders depicted by the  U shapes gather together to teach their culture & dreamtime stories to the young women.

They travel between one sacred site to another, depicted by the concentric circles, teaching the importance of each site, their dreamtime songs & dances in the area of the artist’s birthplace. They also teach their young women how to survive & collect bush tucker.
