Debra McDonald Nangala, born 11-10-69 at Papunya camp & is the grand daughter of the late Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi. Debra's stories refer to her country of Lake MacDonald. Debra has been painting since 1987 and was married to the nephew of Turkey Tolson and son of the great female artist Mitjili.
This design depicts a honey ant dreaming site in the area of the artists birthplace.The rectangular squares depict the holes where the honey ants live & make love to multiply. The circles depict flowers where the bees collect nectar to produce the honey.The women collect the honey which is a valuable food source for Aboriginal people.
