Jennifer Purvis Kngwarreye is an Aboriginal artist from the Utopian region belonging to the Anmatyerre language group. She is the daughter of the famous Utopian Artist Greeny Purvis.
This painting depicts the seed of the pencil yam plant which is a principal Aboriginal food source gathered by the Aboriginal women from Utopia .Ceremonies which include song and dance are performed by the women to pay homage to the spirit of the yam plant to ensure perpetual germination.
