MARGARET SCOBIE

Margaret was born 01-01-48 at Woola Downs, Northern Territory. She is an Anmatyerre speaker & one of the senior women at Utopia. Her family contains a string of accredited artists. Margaret’s mother is sister to the father of highly respected artist Gloria Petyarre & more notably was sister to celebrated artist Emily Kngwarreye. 

She often paints dreamtime stories such as the Bush Medicine Dreaming, Honey Ant & Mountain Devil Dreaming.  Margaret has a great flair for colour in her paintings & is a highly respected  artist.


BUSH MEDICINE DREAMING

Margaret’s traditional design depicts the leaves of a particular type of native shrub renowned for its medicinal properties. During the life of the plant the leaves change colour and as they do so they exhibit different medicinal properties.In this painting, Margaret employs a range of brush strokes & colours to represent the leaves at different times of the year.
